This morning Kyleigh got her arterial line out. Even though it was stitched in she wiggled and moved and flicked until she got it disrupted. When they took it out it took almost three hours of pressure to stop her bleeding. At one point the nurse was holding it for 30 minutes straight before checking to see if the bleeding stopped. That was quite an ordeal, but Kyleigh had some Morpheine and took a nap. She also ate some.
Since she got that out she got a bath, got a little dress on, and Amber got to hold her and let her sleep with her for about an hour. She of course woke up fussy, threw the passy on the floor and was hungry. The nutrition doctor says as long as she gets at least 750ml by mouth in 24 hours we don’t have to tube her. It looks like it is possible for us to meet that goal. She has until 8 am tomorrow before they make the call.
She is down to just one IV pole now and not the three in one deal she had yesterday. She is still having her rythym problem, but since her human dynamic (ability to profuse her body) is working fine they aren’t concerned. The problem with her ryhtym is that the spot where the electric pulse initially fires from is a little lower than normal. So, that is what makes it sinus right now (and it dips to junctional).
Today her belly is really bloated and her liver is a little down which just means that her heart is still a little swollen or has some fluid around it. Her belly could be swollen from trapped air when they closed her up from surgery. So, it should go away with time.
All in all today is a good day and one step closer to the step down unit. Amber is much more relieved since she got to hold her and dress her up. She is sleeping peacefully now.
