I have really been praying and hoping to get a clear answer about so many things with Kyleigh. We have been very up in the air about things lately and we may have it all figured out now! (HAH! Yeah like we will ever have everything all figured out with Kyleigh! LOL) We have been doing a LOT of research about Neurosurgeons and Neurologists. We have an appt with Dr. Moriarty in Louisville on October 24. I am calling to cancel that. We have contacted Dr. David Frim in Chicago and we have our fingers crossed that he will be able to give us the answers we are looking for. We have heard only amazing things about him so our hopes are high!! Say a prayer that this is what we need.

I don’t know you and I know you don’t know me. WE are from Louisville. We also were faced with a similar choice between Dr. Moriarity and Dr. Frim. You are making an excellent choice in Dr. Frim. I am assuming one of your children has Chiari. Our son was diagnosed at the age of 4. He had decompression surgery that summer and is now doing very well. In fact, we are returning to Dr. Frim in May for an MRI to monitor his progress.
We went to an intial appointment with Dr. M per our pediatrician’s recommendation. He was abrubt and acted like he was too busy for questions and he basically called us foolish for asking about getting a second opinion from Dr. Frim (he’s very stuck on himself). He also told us Dr. Frim had the same training he did. This totally turned us off — I am a health professional and know a good doctor when I see one. Well, when we went to see Dr. Frim, he sat and talked with us until all of our question were answered and everything was fully explained. He was soft spoken and kind and great with our son. Later we found out that several of Dr. M’s patients have gone to Dr. Frim after Dr. M messed up their decompression. Dr. Frim’s caseload is largely made up of Chiari patients; Dr. M sees all kinds of patients and only a small portion of Chiari. We went with the better and more experienced doctor.
