We decided that the best thing to do for Ky instead of trying to figure out what this IS is to go ahead and find out what it IS NOT. We went and saw Megan (our ped) and she decided the best approach would be to work on things that she is used to… normal kids things. Just in case this is something normal. Megan did feel that she needed to have a UA to check for UTI. We also did a STREP culture, swabbed the nose for FLU, swabbed the g-tube site just in case its something funky growing there, and are doing a stool culture to see if anything grows out there.

She said that her throat looked quite red but that could be from the extended period of throwing up.

We now KNOW that she does not have strep, no ear infection, not the flu, the UA showed no UTI but the cultures are going to be grown to see if anything grows out that wasn’t immediately shown in the UA. That is possible and honestly… is what I am hoping for. That would be the EASIEST thing possible. Stool cultures will come back also. So that pretty much covers all teh bases that Megan has.

Talked to Dr. Joe again last night. God Bless his heart… I swear… I am sure he probably wants to pull his hair out every time he gets an email from us. I am so thankful that he is still working with us. He is really the only one who understands Kyleigh’s human dynamic. I will say things and he will always remind me that with Kyleigh things are never as they appear…

While we almost hope that she grows a UTI in the cultures… if it is NOT that then we are back at step one. He did mention the possibility of kidney stones and all the symptoms fit that. With her kidneys messed up I wouldn’t put it past her… or some funky fungal / bacterial infection.

We will wait and see. Hopefully this will be a simple UTI and we will get some meds and be done. Sigh……………………………
