MORE Amazing RAK!

Posted by Amber On June - 22 - 2008

Sorry I haven’t had a chance to post in a couple of days… here is the story:

On June 30, 2008 our Schmidt Studio & Gallery location on Kentucky Ave will close. We are not closing our business… just that location. We are working on a subletting a space from a wedding planner but that will happen in its own time. For now I have been granted an opportunity to pursue the STYLE photography that I REALLY wanted to all along. I never have liked the stuffy “portraits”… I truly have always wanted to be a “lifestyle” photographer. So… this move has been the perfect opportunity to move my business in the direction that I want it to go. Our wedding business is still growing by the day and we TRULY have a passion for it. I have always said if I had to give up every aspect of photography… I would STILL shoot weddings. Well here we are..

It has been a bit of a mental battle for me. Yes I will admit it has taken a hit to my ego to accept the events of lately. I have had to come to terms with many things that have not been what I “planned”… but truly each day that passes I get more and more ok with it. Just like our new house that we built before Ky was born… this too shall pass and our lives will continue to change and amaze us. I will continue to do what I love and in the WAY I want to do it and that is what matters most. Ky will continue to grow stronger and hopefully healthier as I have more time to devote to being her advocate and taking care of her.

So… in light of us moving our studio back into our home, downsizing the “studio portrait” business and having to condense an entire studio worth of computers, equipment, props, and furniture into our house… we have been trying to decide what we really NEED, want, and can get rid of. Can I whine for a minute and tell you how much I LOATHE moving? We have had very little time to do anything but organize, clean and move. This is a decision that we made rather quickly (in the past two weeks) and we are trying to get out of our space as quickly a possible so that the new tennants can start working on their dream. Like so many things in our life we will leave behind a piece of us. Every part of that space has US written on it. From the wall color to the hardwood floors that we laid OURSELVES… that space was ours.

I cannot look at this as loss of a dream… its simply a new dream and a new direction and I EXPECT new amazing things and opportunities to happen. When one window closes usually a GARAGE door opens! I cannot wait to run through that open garage door and see what is on the other side!

We arrived home Friday evening to find THIS on our doorstep! Made our semi-sad day much happier! And wow… we had just said we need wipes! NOT NOW! Our anonymous Costco shopping friend from WA has RAKed again! LOL Two HUGE boxes of diapers and a third of wipes! I didn’t even know they MADE quantities of wipes that large!!! HECK YEAH! You would never imagine that two grown ups could be so happy over diapers and wipes!!
And… the amazing gift certificate that was sent to us from Sue in Paris, KY purchase this load of stuff for Ky. Her passies have been falling apart due to washing and sterilizing so many times, she was completely out of shampoo, bubbles, and soap, our laundry spot treating stash was nearly gone and she definitely was in need of a new set of cups! A few other things you will see are MONKEY plates… omg she loooved those! Hey a girl has to have a little fun with her food right? Especially when you don’t get to eat often! So…. thank you Sue for this wonderful pile of goodies!I also received a beautiful card from a photographer friend, Joanna… it was beautiful and definitely made my day!

Please know that your gifts and kindnesses are appreciate more than you will ever know. The past few months have been some of the hardest that we have ever and such little things can make a world of difference!
