Her Family is the one that we helped make it to the Ocean… Today Lilie had a g-tube placed as she is often not able to consume enough calories nowadays to sustain. I was so glad to hear that they were able to do the surgery Laprascopically (the same way Joe placed Ky’s) so her healing process will be a lot easier! In reading Jen and Lilie’s Caringbridge site all the emotions of the g-tube surgery just hit me like a flood. I feel for Jen so much… because for us the g-tube was also “Elective”. It wasn’t like Ky’s other surgeries that were “do or die” it was something that in a way I felt like we did to make our lives easier. While I know that giving us all less stress improve’s Ky’s quality of life, part of me still feels like… we did this to her. Then a dear friend of mine reminded me… NO- you did this FOR her! There is a difference! Which is oh so true.

Looking back… I really wish that we had done the g-tube a LONG time ago, as in at 8 weeks! There were so many times when we were ALL in tears after forcing Ky to “eat” and then her puking it all back up. So many nights when I would lay in bed and cry and wonder how on earth we would make it through the next day. The feeding and GI issues are a tough one to tackle and I am glad that (knock on wood) it seems we may be getting them under control. I hate that she cannot EAT like her brothers because she so loves food. But when I think about the fact that she has gained 6 lb in as many months I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that we made the right decision, as hard as it was.

I truly hope for Lilie and her family that this mic key brings some much needed relief and helps her to grow as well as Ky has. Say a prayer for their family as Lilie recuperates.
