As a photographer I often am asked to recommend a GOOD camera for NON-photogs to use at home. While it has long been my recommendation to stay in the Canon family (one must NOT migrate to the dark side – NIKON) as new product has entered the market which I myself am even pining over!!!

Now for me, a hopeless viewfinder addict it is going to take some getting used to. Looking into a screen versus a viewfinder does however have its advantages!!!
So why the switch from a die hard Canon fan? Truthfully I would go either Fuji OR Sony if only their single burst ratio could even rival Canon. For me as a wedding shooter I do not have time for the camera to take even 5 seconds to write to a card. I need instantaneous writing and that is something that Canon definitely has the one up on. But for home life and for intensive (and non-wedding purposes) this camera will rock your socks for many years to come!!!
One of the MORE important things to remember… when you BUY online.. BUY FROM A REPUTABLE vendor! There is something called the GRAY market. This is a market of cameras that generally come out of China or Japan (from the manufacturer). They come with NO US WARRANTY and are generally “off the factory floor”… things that may no visibly look like a reject but may break in a year down the road and will NOT be repaired by the company because they are not WARRANTIED by them! If you are looking for a good deal… watch for company certified REBATES. Professional photographer’s world rebates usually happen in the fall. So watch for them before Christmas. If you see a $700 camera selling for $300 you can rest assured that it is gray market.
