Happy Labor Day!

Posted by Amber On September - 1 - 2008

How better to say goodbye to the summer season than with a nice 90+ degree weekend?!!! Troy and the boys spent Saturday at his parent’s farm in Fleming County. I spent Saturday running errands with Ky and then getting a bit of pampering with my friend Jessica (America & Boston’s mom). It was a pretty great day Saturday topped off with a pedicure. You can’t ask for much better than that!

Sunday & Monday have been spent enjoying doing absolutely NOTHING! Literally. I don’t even remember the last time I had NOTHING to do! Well other than all the stuff we have to do everyday, Ky stuff, laundry, etc… but no appointments or sessions or doctors visits. It has been really nice. We have barely had time to breathe this summer and I am sad to say it slipped away all too fast so I was glad to have two whole days just to savor the sounds and sights of summer.

Ky and I managed to find a cut little kiddie pool on clearance at Target for $7!!!! I was cool with that considering the fact that the boys definitely popped one of the slides the first time out I was really glad that we got a good deal!

Ky had a hard time on Saturday. She was very tired and was generally happy to suck her passy and ride in the “trollah” (read: stroller). She was honestly too tired to even pick out her own Toy at Toys R Us and I have to say that is hard for me. Seeing her NOT enjoying things just hurts me in ways I cannot explain. Sunday brought better times for her though and this is what ensued! I SO wish for her that she could feel this good every single day. That she would laugh everyday and have the energy to play. Of course after the pool she managed to nap for almost 5 hours so it took quite a bit out of her but I enjoyed just watching her be a happy, normal kid for 15 minutes.

One of the biggest things that you learn when you have a child like Ky is to savor every single tiny moment of “normal”. You truly learn an appreciation for life and love and happiness. You manage to understand the gravity of issues and appreciate the simple joys all that much more.

So Happy Labor Day. Today I hope that every one of you can sit back for 5 minutes and enjoy the sun on your face, the grass beneath your feet, the blue hazy skies, and the fact that you are alive and experiencing another changing season.

Let me start off by saying them kids are lucky to have you as their mommy!! For several reasons of course, because of the $7.00 pool, the awesome bathing suits, and the pictures!! Makes me feel like "slacker" mom.. I do have some pictures, but you my friend are awesome!!
Well, thanks for always checking in on us, I check in on you guys everyday. Even though I may not post! I think that it is safe to say that Ky is getting cuter every time I see a new picture of her..And the boys, wow! That is all I can say.
I truly consider ourselves lucky to have you as a cheerleader in our corner!!
    Thanks for that!!
Love and hugs to you all,
    Tommi & Amanda

Glad you had a great Labor Day. Isn’t it great to do nothing for at least a day? I did that on Monday too, and it was so nice.

    Thinking about you all often!

    hi there,

i just wanted to let you know that you’ll be receiving a package for your kids in the mail in about 2 weeks. i held a contest at my blog and the prize was a lego set. carla, over at Somebody Needs a Nap (http://somebodyneedsanap.wordpress.com/), won my contest, but asked that i send her prize to you and your kids instead. seeing as you have three kids, i’ve done a little magic and the prize has morphed into a little more than one lego set. you can see what you’ve “won” at my blog! just scroll down a couple of posts and you’ll see the lego set.

WOW… Kia … I am just in tears. My oldest- Owen – loves Legos… he has grown up so much in the past two years and I have missed so much of it. I will be ecstatic to sit down for just a bit and just play Legos with him.

My dear Carla… you are a true Angel. Thank you…
