Room 433… stop by and say hi!

Currently I am sitting in Room 433 of Kentucky Children’s Hospital. Its wild how you can walk into a hospital and feel peace. The past 48 hours have all been a blur. Long story short Ky started bleeding from her rectum last night about 6 pm. I called Joe and couldn’t get in touch with Megan and we agreed that she needed to be admitted. She had not kept down any feeds for almost a week.

After a consult with GI today (Dr. Shashi) we know that she is looking a little anemic. She is still having blood and they believe that she has both C-diff and Enterocolitis. We are going to do ABX for three days and if by then she is not responding well then Shashi wants to scope her.

I once again have to say how touched I am by the compassion and open arms with which our amazing staff on 4 East receives us. We arrived to have a room already waiting with everyone there and ready to get cracking. In under an hour Ky already had her labs drawn, urine culture, stool sample, IV fluids going, xrays, and was sleeping peacefully with her narcotics. I am so very thankful for Kentucky Children’s Hospital and everyone in it. I don’t know WHAT we would do without them. I mean even my favorite food service guy came in to check on me this morning to make sure I didn’t want breakfast. (I am still to ill over the whole OTHER situation to eat)

So, basically Ky is one sick puppy. She is hurting pretty badly. But my guess is anyone pooping blood does hurt badly. They have fluids going, and we have restarted pedialyte feeds in her gtube. Her transverse colon is again dialated ( which I knew ) but it looks like the UTI may be gone!!!

So… say a prayer for us! And if you are anywhere near the hospital stop by and say hi. We would love to have visitors!
