Today was by far the BEST Medical News day that Ky has had in almost a year!!!!!!!! All of the things that we had feared… we have been cleared of!!! I have to honestly tell you that I truly in my heart believe that the prayers of so many have made this possible. You must always give credit where it is due and this one … I know that I know that LAST WEEK something was WRONG with my child and I knew walking into that OR today that whatever was wrong with her had resolved itself this week.
So here’s the report:
From Dr. Levitt (Colorectal) – Her amazingly crafted (yes Dr. L… we truly appreciate your mad hiney making skills!) hiney hole is not only in tact but it is PERFECT! Dr. L… you may now carry on knowing that all is right with the world because Ky’s hiney is good to go! No fistula or other horrible thing! YAY!
From Dr. Alam (Urology) – Her bladder looks unbelievably better. I think Alam himself was actually shocked at how GOOD (on the scale of Kyleigh) that it looks!!! He said that he truly believes that her bladder was just SO inflamed that is was bleeding, which is not good, but its obvious that the foley rest has helped tremendously. He also believes that we are on the right path with Ditropan. He and Dr. L have a bit of a new plan for handling the intestinal issues with the oral Ditropan… Levitt says… Up with the Senna and add some Pectin. Furthermore, Alam confirmed that Kyleigh’s urethra and anatomy in her genital area is NOT textbook by any means. That he could definitely see how it would be hard cathing her if she was putting up ANY kind of fight at all. We decided to try and go up to a 12 FR catheter. He tried it in the OR and said that it fit perfectly and would make a HUGE difference in her emptying patterns. So… here’s to a 12 FR! Man that thing looks huge! EEEK!!!!!!!!!!!
Best news of the entire year. I think that Joe, Megan and Alam are all going to end up on a conference call regarding Kyleigh!!!!!!!!!!! I think it is happening WEDNESDAY!!!!!!!!!!!! I have begged for months now to try and get all the heads of this shindig together… this has been desperately needed for quite some time now and you have NO IDEA the sense of overwhelming peace that it brings to me to KNOW that now all of our major players are communicating. Kudos to ALL of our docs for being so willing to make this meeting of the minds happen!!!!!!!!! Its extremely hard to transverse states and carry information back and forth. I am so incredibly glad to have these three amazing people on our side. (And many more for that matter!!!)
Kudos today to Joe (Dr. Joe Iocono), Alam (Dr. Shumyle Alam), Megan (Dr. Megan Taylor Poole) and Dr. L (Dr. Marc Levitt) for being so unbelievably amazing!!!! I don’t know WHAT we would do without them!!!!!!

I’m THRILLED to see this news. YEAH!!!!
YAAA!!!!
I am so happy that you FINALLY got some wonderful news!!!
So glad to hear this news. Whew!!! What a relief that must be for you! Nothing like verification of a perfect hinney hole to make your day.

Praise the Lord! I am very glad to hear this wonderful news, Amber! Do you think that giving her the “Foley rest” more often would help? I know families that use the foley every night. It makes me cringe to think of her bladder literally bleeding- poor Ky! I’m glad that pain has been relieved for now!
I hope the conference call goes well- I can’t imagine how difficult its been coordinating between different hospitals! we have a hard time getting drs who work next to each other to talk… good for you getting them to work together- I know that took a lot of perseverance!
