So… over the years I have had my misadventures in cooking. One of my most memorable mishaps was shared with a dear friend and sorority sister, also named Amber. “Croston” as we affectionately named her and I decided one snowy winter evening that we were going to make fudge. Diligently we scoured the internet and got the recipe. We set out to Wal Mart, going about 10 mph in the snow, and returned victorious… I am SURE that Sean Marcum remembers this whole scene. Sean was fresh off his mission and sadly enough we botched the fudge to say the least. I remember that Sean was fine with it all because he was busy enjoying the American Candy from Halloween! God love him I think he was just so happy to see REAL candy again he could have cared less what it was!
So… we tried and tried. Alas the Fudge alluded us. We ended up with a BURNT pan and a GOD AWFUL cloud of black smoke filling our little one bed apartment in Pinecrest! I remember screaming OH GOD ITS BURNING and running with the pan to the back patio doors! We threw it out and that pan STAYED there until we moved from the apartment to our house in the spring.
I will never forget our Fudge Misadventures. I have since mastered the Fudge… Chocolate and Peanut Butter… but once again I cheat. MICROWAVE ONLY!! Feel free to steal the recipe card and enjoy some memories of me and Croston burning our poor attempts at Fudge! TFJ to all my amazing sorority sisters! We MUST get together soon! I promise NON-burnt fudge!
