Nice right?? Rossy woke up this morning and told me that last night there were “Fuzzies” in his brain and they made his ears hurt. If we remember back two weeks ago… Owen, when he was in horrible pain the week of New Year’s, told me that a bullet exploded out of his ear one night. My kids are nothing if not expressive! LOL
Megan said she could see why Owen was still feverish off and on and miserable. His ears were DEFINITELY still infected even after two weeks of ABX… Poor Rossy is also double ear infected AND has tons of fluid in his ears so he will be on additional meds to try and dry that up or else he is likely to have return infections from the fluid pooling. We had both boys ears hearing tested because Ross continues to talk louder and louder and Owen SWEARS he cannot hear us. Owen is fine… Ross is questionable but trying to test him was rather comical… he thought it was a game and even I could hear the beeps and he was putting up the opposite hand and laughing. Funny kid.
THEN there came the debate over stickers at the checkout counter. Owen SWORE up and down that he heard someone say there was MARIO stickers… I told him DUDE… Mario stickers ceased to exist in about 1989!! You nut.
So… $30 in co payments, $45 in medications, 3 happy meals and 4 hours later we returned home with Augmentin hoping that the potencny will take care of the infections better than Amoxicillin. The next step is Omnicef… I would rather stop and Augmentin! LOL
Add to this the fact that Kyleigh has had “chunky” urine for a few days now and I refuse to believe that she is infected again. Can I claim stupidity on this one?? AND… we have her Senna routines PERFECTED… 3 ml in the morning… 2 at night and the kid poops at noon everyday… yet the consistency is not where we would like it… so we drop off 1 single ml… Kid has not pooped for almost THREE days… ugh. I am yelling UNCLE!! I will stay with the 5 ml and liquid poops. I need to call Dr. Levitt and get on the Pectin thing. I know it would probably make a difference but I have very much enjoyed my 9 weeks of “normal”. 9 whole weeks with no docs for Ky, no hospitalizations. The streak was broken last week with GI radiology stuff … flouro enema… all that good stuff… which speaking of… our radiologist… GONE! HOLY CARP! I kind of felt bad for the older gentleman doing the flouro. I don’t think he knew what to make of Kyleigh and Melissa (our wonderful Rad tech…) is so comfortable with us that we don’t even have people explain the system any more. We have done it enough to know sadly…
So… I am actually enjoying the NORMAL life things. If ear infections and regular pediatrician visits are enjoyable… which they are with our lovely Megan!!
Wild story of the day: I called the office at 8:25 am to get an appointment with Megan. At 8:34 am Megan calls ME! LOL I thought she was calling because she saw we were coming in. Actually she was calling to ask me for some tips or products to recommend to a family who has a baby newly in a colostomy. I told I would be more than happy to recommend some resources like our fabulous IA Parents group. I also wrote down some of the things I learned along our 18 month colostomy journey. I packed up some extra supplies (all brand new and sealed of course!) and took them for her to give to the family to try out. I told her that the family was more than welcome to call me and I would be happy to help them in any way I could. I hope they call because I know I have such a great support group in all my IA mom friends! I cannot imagine having made it through the past year without Laura, Bridgette, Becca, Kristen, Toni, Emmy, Jessica, Kimberly, Debbie (Prodding Purdy… hee hee!), Mindy, Melissa, Donna, and everyone else… I LOVE you all like you were my own sisters! I remember when they dumped us out of the NICU with our little Hollister Box and said “Go for it”… I had to learn so much on my own… THANK GOD for those who had traveled the road before me and had all the answers!
Megan and I just had to laugh at how God works. Amazing right? Is it ANY coincidence that I was going to be in her office not more than two hours after she called me??? I think not! Sigh… I have a pretty great life right?
Other funnies of the week… Joe joined facebook… feel free to hound … i mean say hello to him! Hopefully he won’t ignore us like Levitt does! Which… speaking of… I need to make fun of him for having a facebook page and never even looking at it! like… YEARS! Really what is the point?
PS… Say a Prayer for Joe (Dr. Iocono) and Susan and their family. They lost a close friend this weekend and the funeral is tomorrow evening. I know it would do their hearts good to feel the prayers!! Also for our little friend Morgan Gray. Her mom Betty is a photographer friend of mine and she was diagnosed in November with Bone Cancer after shattering her leg doing simple cartwheels. She is currently at St. Jude receiving treatment. Stop by her Caringbridge page and leave her a note of encouragement!

I hear ya on the ear infections. While we were on vacation for Christmas Chloe got a cold, the stomach flu and an ear infection that was just starting all at the same time. She was put on antibiotics (Amoxicillin) and after a week wasn’t any better. So back to the Dr we went. Now she had a double ear infection and was prescribed Omnicef. Finally she is starting to feel better. So I totally understand your frustration. I hope the boys and Ky get to feeling better soon! Take care girl!
