Gifts come in so many forms. The gift of love, of friendship, of life. We are so blessed with so many gifts each day that I think, all to often, we forget to be truly thankful. In the past 4 years I have realized what it means to be TRULY thankful. To God, to our family, to friends and to total strangers even.
Last night Kyleigh received a gift. I am really surprised that I didn’t break down in tears (that is my tendency!). Among so many others in this gift bag was this beautiful dress. The minute I ran my fingers across its beautifully stitched brocade I knew that a photoshoot was in order!
This gift was given to her by someone very special. I love gifts that are more than just something in a bag. You see, the person who gave her this gift happens to be the wife of the man whose hands have given her a second, third, fourth (and so on) chance at life. Dr. Joe’s (Ky’s surgeon for those of you who are newly joining us on the blog- go read the whole story here) lovely wife, Susan, was sweet enough to be shopping for Ky!!!

I will never have enough words to thank this family. To thank Joe for his amazing skill and compassion. To thank Susan and the girls for their sacrifice of time with their husband and Daddy so that my child can be outside running through the yard at the moment… What do you do when words are not enough. I guess you remain speechless (and write a blog post!) At any rate and with or without enough words… thank you Susan!

When I told Ky we were going to take some pictures of her in her Susan and JoJo (that’s what she calls Joe) dress she said… “wear my pretty prinze (read: Pretty Princess) shoes!”. Lucky enough for us her Pretty Princess Shoes happen to be gold stitched sandals!

As a side note… my child has absolutely NO boo boos on her body… she is making the bandaids into a fashion statement! Hey… I don’t argue with her! Its not even worth it! LOL

What a blessing Joe and Susan has been to your family. There’s a special place in heaven for them.

The pictures are beautiful and your little Ky is adorable!! What kind of camera do you use?? I ask because now that we have a little one we want to take better pics and are looking into getting a new “good” kind of camera. haha. Granted we both have zero experience with this but we’ll learn. Also, thanks for the suggestions on the plane ride. I breast feed Perri but wanted to pump some bottles as well in case I am near someone and don’t feel comfortable enough to nurse her by a bunch of strangers, but then my husband mentioned wondering if you can bring bottles on a plane? I know with formula you could mix it with water on the plane but I think we’re going to have to check into bringing a liquid on the plane.. hmm. Anyhow… your little girl is a doll!!!
Okay I feel like a dork now about the camera. Just saw your other page and you’re a photographer? (jealous!) I always said I would love to do that but have no experience in this so… Anyhow. Your pics are always beautiful, I should’ve known!
Absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!!
That she is!!
And how wonderful Joe and Susan have been to you guys. That’s amazing.
Those pictures are amazing. I LOVE the second one. She is absolutely gorgeous.
