Yesterday was a HUGELY productive day in our house. I got 6 loads of laundry + rugs and bed linens washed and hung to dry- saving MAJOR energy! We are really working on that now. Our dryer uses a huge amount of electricity as well as our COMPUTER. So… I am shutting down and only using the laptop unless I am proofing. Our electric bills are getting out of hand and we are trying really hard to reign in the finances.
In the middle of the day we cleaned out the stockpile room! OH MY have I accumulated a lot of stuff for free or cheap. I roughly added in my head and I have barely spent $100 on my stockpile room (with the exception of the diaper deal) and I am totally impressed with it!.
THEN… I had to get dressed (painted hands and all) and run a baby shower gift to our little cousin, Erin, who is having a baby SOON! She is entirely cute and does not even LOOK pregnant! Its just ridiculous how cute she is! I hope to get to take some maternity pics of her in the next week or two before she has the baby! BUT.. I whipped up with DIAPER CAKE and gift basket out of my stockpile in about 30 minutes. Pretty Proud of that too!
THEN, last night, even after spending the entire day ( I am talking 7 am-7 pm) painting and finishing our new kitchen / dining room, Troy and I were determined to make it out to our date night. It had been two weeks since we last went and no matter HOW broke we are we have made the decision to invest in our relationship and do it even if we do nothing but share a coke and fries at McD’s!!!
So… I was craving Red Robin and its right by the Kroger that usually will give me overage so we went to both. I am not a fan of Red Robin’s burgers so I just east fries but I am in LOVE with their ranch! mmm….
At Kroger we needed to round up our Green Giant deal before it went off sale so at 10 pm we rolled out of the store with:
22 packs of Green Giant Vegetables – 10/$10 sale – $1/2 coupons = $0.50 each
10 Banquet Kids meals (for when we are in a rush for lunch during the week) $1 each
1 2 liter of Dr. Pepper – FREE (coupon from an Anonymous blog reader!!!!!!! THANK YOU!)
1 2 liter of Big Red – FREE (coupon leftover – buy 2 eggs and get free big red)
2 dozen eggs
1 jar of PACE picante – FREE ($4 off coupon- this did not work for overage for me but I have so enjoyed cooking with PACE recently that the free jar was good enough for me!)
Our total started out at more than $76 and came down to $27. If my overage would have worked it would have been $25… sigh. That was my goal!
THEN… today, on the way home from church, we like to stop at Wags on the other side of town. They are WAY less picky about the coupons there and already “know” me.
At Wags I got:
6 Scrubbing Bubbles Action Scrubbers – $2/7 – $1 RR – (2) $2.75 IP coupons - $0.25 each. That makes up for the fact that CVS was totally out from DAY ONE of their promotion!
1 Bottle of Dawn – $0.99 with ad coupon – $0.25 PG Coupon = $0.75 (did I tell you how much dawn we use? That little bitty bottle will last us about a week!… yikes)
3 boxes of Velveeta Shells and Cheese -3/$5 in ad coupon
2 packs of leftover Easter Peeps
4 Disney pen things (treats for kids- needed them as filler!)
My out of pocket was : $1.76 + $0.83 + $0.83 = $3.42 and I got $3 back in RR… pretty successful haul if you ask me!
THEN I cooked lunch, salibury steaks, garlic smashed potatoes, mac n cheese, broccoli and biscuits… and now everyone is happy, full and sleeping.
Are you tired yet? I am!
But wait… there’s more… well really this is LAST week’s more! LOL This is part my Walgreens from last week(or maybe even the week before..) but I forgot to post it.
This picture is the combo of CVS and WAGS. At CVS I got:
(2) Raisin Bran -2/$4 – (2) $1/1 MFR Coupons = $1/ box
(1) Softsoap – $3.29 – $3.29 ECBS= FREE
(4) FREE Colgate toothbrushes – $3.99 each – $3.99 in ECBS
At Walgreens I got:
(2) Scunci Hair ties packs – $1.99 each – $1.99 RR = FREE
(1) Edge Shave Gel – $3.29 – $3.29 in RR = FREE (monthly deal on until 4/25)
(3) Colgate Toothbrushes – $3.50 each – $3.50 in RR – $1 /1 MFR coupons = $1 MONEYMAKER EACH = $3 moneymaker total!!!
(3) Kleenex boxes – (forget the math but they came out to $0.79 / box) – Good for us considering every member of our family is currently sick!
(4) Bottle of Excedrin – BOGO- (2) boxes for $4.99 – (2) $2/1 coupons = $0.99 for TWO = $0.49 each!!!
(6) 8×11 Bubble Mailers – $0.69 each- used those for filler to use up my RR and it was a good price PLUS we always need them!

Hey Amber,
Helps make up for the lack of food deals I guess. Oh, and thanks for making the music opt in.
I’m on satellite and you just saved my bandwidth. Thanks!
Where did the Scrubbing Bubbles Action Scrubbers coupon come from? I checked the site and if it was there it’s gone I guess. I love those things but won’t pay normal price for any of that sort of thing anymore. lol. We only have a walgreen’s and can’t get food deals (only wmart) so I love the deals at wags.
Robin
HI, Amber,I hope you'll do some kitchen pics showing your cabinets and the new green paint color. I'd love to see it all together. I went back & saw the black cabinets, they look great. And I think the new green looks yummy too. I'd love to see it it all together.
Ok, I’ve been working on my couponing skills and I have a question for you…with the Green Giant vegetables…you said the cans ended up being $0.50 each…I’m guessing you had multiple coupons? If so, did you have to do separate transactions to use them? I’m doing better with the coupons, but still trying to get the whole stockpile thing down…for so long I’ve shopped for one week at a time, so this is a whole new concept for me!
Coupon Crazy Momma!! I did that for a while last year (before Owen) and saved A TON of money $$! It was fabulous. Hopefully I will have time again soon. I’m lucky if I get to the store these days.
Thanks for all the help and advice!! I am checking into angelflights right now. Stanford said that oxygen is complicated on those flights because of compression in the air? I don’t know. I’m going to go straight to the source though and give them a call direct! I feel REALLY uncomfortable jumping on a commercial airline and having something medically go wrong and have no resources, other than a measly oxygen concentrator. It just frightens me.
I am going back and reading your blog today, I read a little of Kyleigh’s story and all I can say is WOW!!
Robin- Those were internet printables from several weeks ago. I think they came from coupons.com but I am not sure.
Rhoda – I will DEFINITELY post before and after pics!
Nicole – yes I had 11 of the green giant coupons.
Andrea – if there is anything I can do to help you with Owen’s flight or research I will definitely be more than glad to help!!! Hugs to you~!
Way to go on the coupon deals Amber!
I have to say that I am stealing your diaper cake idea. That looks so cute! I have lots of leftover size 1s and 2s that my chub won’t fit into anymore and I’m going to a baby shower on Sunday. Although it’s for a boy, so I won’t be able to use pretty pink ribbon. Oh well!
Also, did you try the Walgreen’s trail mix crunch deal? There were some printables for $2.00 off and I ended up getting 5 boxes yesterday for 50 cents each. Also, Physician’s Formula is on clearance and they have a $10 rebate too.
Oh, and I hope you feel better soon too!! *hugs*
