Sick… great! Here we go.

This is EXACTLY the reason we held Owen out of school last year.  I knew that the first year of school he would bring home everything and it only took three weeks.  He came home Friday and as soon as he stepped off the bus he was burning up with a fever.  I feel TERRIBLE for all the other kids in the class who had to be exposed to his germs but I had no idea he was feeling bad as I received NO phone call home and he was fine that morning.

Long story short, I am trying to correspond with the teacher to make a plan to keep Owen from getting sick so much.  If he gets sick every 3 weeks we are in trouble!  But I am already taking extreme measures here at home.  I guess I have to go back to being the “nazi” like I was when Ky was born.  I had managed to norm out of that but its that time again I guess.  Hand sanitizer at the front door and in cars.  Shoes left on the porch.  I have even made Owen come in from school and strip off his clothing and go straight to the shower to get the germs off.  I don’t know what else to do.

I guess I will look into some vitamin supplements.  I am also planning on helping the teacher clean the room (hopefully to my “hospital room cleaning” specs if she will allow me but she says she cleans it with Lysol everyday already so I don’t know what else I can do to make it better.  Sigh……………  I truly do not want to spend the entire year sick every 3 months and I certainly don’t need Kyleigh getting any GI bugs once they start breaking out in mass.

Any suggestions from parents who have BTDT with an older child and a kid like Ky at home?  I am GREATLY open to suggestions.

I don’t have a child with Ky’s issues, but I will pray you find a solution. God bless.

I haven’t got any suggestions. My big kids bring germs home. It’s just the way it is. I do what you are doing and scrub, scrub, scrub! Clorhex is our best friend.

Your doing exactly as you should. We pull my oldest out with flu and stomach flu. I can’t keep her out to avoid colds…but other than RSV the colds don’t scare me as much, they suck…but I don’t lose sleep over them.

I provide lysol and clorox wipes for the class and hand santizier. Corianne has been instructed not to drink out of the drinking fountain (I provide the water), and she is not to share anything from a pencil to a crayon with other kids. I may even have them move her desk away from the other kids.

Many of the parents have been to told the situation, and to please keep hold fevering or puking kids at all costs.

So we got a call this week…2 weeks in 3 kids were out with stomach flu out of her class of 14 kids and we pulled her out for the next few days…to hopefully avoid it.

The janitors go in and specially clean her room each day as well in hopes of less spread. I pulled corianne out of school last spring because it was getting too much and our old school was not supportive of our measures (the principal in particular).

HTH email me if you need more ideas
